The Wellell Optima Turn is a prone positioning pressure relief system designed for users at high to very high risk who require regular repositioning and consistent pressure care. It supports one of the most demanding parts of care—turning and upper body positioning by combining automatic lateral rotation with a built-in shoulder lifting mode.
Instead of relying on multiple caregivers to lift, turn, and reposition the upper body, the mattress helps manage this automatically. It reduces physical strain, supports safer head and airway positioning, and maintains pressure relief throughout the day and night without constant manual handling.
Manage airway and fluid tubing<
Helps guide tubing into a safer position, reducing the risk of obstruction or disruption during movement and repositioning .
Control individual air cell
Adjust designated air cells to target pressure relief more precisely in vulnerable areas and support more consistent care.
Automatic turning through the day or night
Gently rotates the user at set intervals, reducing the need for repeated manual turning overnight.
Creates the space needed below the chin to support safer head repositioning while reducing physical effort during care.
The Optima Turn is a lateral rotation pressure relief mattress for users who need regular repositioning and more consistent pressure care at home. Instead of depending on the caregiver to manage every turn manually, the mattress handles gentle side-to-side turning automatically, helping maintain better positioning over time.
One of the biggest callouts on the Optima Turn is its ability to keep turning support active through the night. The mattress rotates the user up to 30° at adjustable intervals, helping relieve pressure from the same contact points without repeated waking and manual repositioning.
Firm TPU side bolsters along both sides of the mattress help keep the user positioned more securely during turning. This helps reduce pressure against bed rails and supports a safer, more stable surface during repositioning.
Individual heel air cells can deflate to create a lower-pressure zone around the heels. This targeted offloading helps protect one of the most vulnerable areas of the body during longer periods in bed.
Mechanically assisted turning helps reduce the need for repositioning pillows between bony areas such as the knees and elbows. This makes it easier to manage postural support while helping reduce contact pressure between joints.
The mattress is designed to help manage moisture at the surface, supporting a drier and more comfortable bed environment over time. This helps improve comfort during extended bed use while maintaining support in the air cells.
The Optima Turn is best suited for users who need regular turning and for family caregivers looking for a more manageable way to provide pressure relief at home. It is especially valuable when manual turning has become physically demanding, disruptive overnight, or difficult to keep consistent.
