The DermaFloat APL Control Unit is an integral component of the DermaFloat APL therapy system, designed to manage and optimize alternating pressure and low air loss therapies for patients at risk of developing pressure ulcers. This electrically powered device regulates the inflation and deflation of air cells within the mattress overlay, ensuring consistent pressure redistribution by alternating pressure between adjacent air cells. This process enhances circulation to the patient's skin, promoting wound healing and reducing the likelihood of pressure ulcer formation.

The DermaFloat APL Control Unit is designed for use with DermaFloat APL Mattress System, offering three modes—AutoFirm, Therapy, and Alternating—to meet different patient needs. It features adjustable cycle times (5, 10, and 15 minutes) and eight comfort settings, allowing caregivers to personalize therapy.
With low air loss technology providing up to 40 liters of airflow per minute, it helps maintain a dry and comfortable microclimate. Safety features include an automatic panel lockout to prevent accidental changes and a power failure alarm for reliable operation.

AutoFirm Mode – This mode inflates the mattress to its firmest setting, making it easier for caregivers to assist with patient transfers, repositioning, and other care tasks. It provides temporary firmness before automatically switching back to therapy mode.
Therapy Mode – This mode delivers continuous low air loss therapy, helping to reduce moisture and maintain a dry, comfortable microclimate. It supports pressure redistribution to aid in wound healing and pressure ulcer prevention.
Alternating Mode – In this mode, the control unit systematically inflates and deflates air cells in cycles (5, 10, or 15 minutes), redistributing pressure across the body to enhance circulation and reduce prolonged pressure on any single area. This helps in preventing and treating pressure
