The Drive Medical Med-Aire Plus is designed for people who spend long periods in bed and are at risk of pressure sores.
Instead of putting constant pressure on the same areas of the body, the mattress uses 20 air cells that inflate and deflate in cycles. This regularly changes where the body is being supported and helps relieve pressure on vulnerable areas.
The low air loss system also helps manage heat and moisture around the skin.
Caregivers can adjust the firmness, choose how often the pressure changes, make the mattress firm for repositioning or care, and add extra support when the person is sitting up.
In simple terms: it helps take pressure off the same parts of the body without someone having to lie on a standard mattress all day.
Settings include Static mode, AutoFirm, and Seat/Fowler mode for different positions and care needs.
The Med-Aire Plus is available in 80-inch and 84-inch lengths, measures 36 inches wide and 8 inches high, and supports up to 450 lb.
A separate 4-inch lower air-cell layer can retain air for up to 24 hours during a power outage.
The 14029XP digital control unit keeps the main adjustments in one place. You can choose 10-, 15-, 20-, or 25-minute alternating cycles, select from eight comfort settings, or switch to static mode. AutoFirm raises the mattress to maximum pressure for approximately 30 minutes, while Seat/Fowler mode increases pressure when you are placed in a seated position. Audible and visual alarms indicate low pressure, system failure, and power failure, and the panel lock helps prevent unintended changes.
The Med-Aire Plus uses cell-on-cell construction with 20 removable air cells above a static 4-inch lower air-cell layer. That lower layer can retain air for up to 24 hours during a power outage. The mattress also includes integrated low air loss and a removable, quilted, zippered four-way stretch polyurethane cover that is low shear, fluid resistant, and vapor permeable.

Model 14029 measures 36 inches wide by 80 inches long by 8 inches high. Model 14029-84 measures 36 inches wide by 84 inches long by 8 inches high. Both have the same 450 lb weight capacity and core operating features.
The static lower air-cell layer can retain air and continue providing support for up to 24 hours during a power outage.
AutoFirm makes the mattress firm for easier repositioning and care. It stays firm for about 30 minutes before returning to the previous setting.
Seat/Fowler mode adds extra support when the Vor is sitting up in bed, helping prevent them from sinking too far into the mattress.
The system is contraindicated for cervical or skeletal traction and unstable spinal cord injuries. Suitability should be determined according to the individual's care requirements.
