OB-1600 UtilityAir™ with Alternating Pressure, Low Air Loss and Self-Rotation Mattress

Extended time in bed can cause pressure-related skin injuries due to constant weight, trapped heat, and moisture buildup. The ObboMed OB-1600 helps prevent these issues with its 6-inch deep alternating pressure mattress and 15° self-lateral rotation, which continuously redistributes pressure to improve circulation and relieve stress on the back, hips, and shoulders.

Its low air loss system manages heat and moisture by providing gentle airflow across the skin surface, keeping the skin cool and dry to prevent irritation and pressure ulcers. The 7-inch side bolsters add protection against accidental rolling, keeping the patient stable and reducing the risk of injury during rest or repositioning. With a 450 lb weight capacity, the OB-1600 offers strong, consistent support for patients of varying body types.

Structured Design for Patient Protection

The OB-1600 is a 6-inch deep mattress made with a single air layer to provide alternating pressure for the patient. It has 7-inch high side bolsters that act as barriers to help reduce the chance of rolling out of the bed. The system includes an easy-to-use control panel, which lets caregivers adjust air pressure, select modes, and view alerts.

Fowler/Seating: Stable Support When Sitting Up

Sitting up in bed without proper support can lead to sliding, sinking too deeply, reduced stability, and added pressure on the body. The Fowler/Seating function of the ObboMed OB-1600 addresses this by adding support to the torso and seat areas when the bed is raised. This helps reduce the chance of sliding or “bottoming out,” keeping the patient in a stable position for activities such as eating, reading, or talking.

Key Features and Benefits

15° Self-Lateral Rotation

The mattress uses special air cells that inflate and deflate to gently tilt the patient up to 15 degrees. This movement helps spread body weight and reduce pressure on the skin.

Low Air Loss (LAL) Therapy

The mattress has a built-in airflow system that releases up to 15 liters of air per minute under the cover. This helps reduce heat and moisture around the skin, creating a cooler and drier surface for the patient.

Features of Multi-layered Mattress

  • Reduces skin friction and shear.

  • Breathable cover that lets moisture escape.

  • Helps remove perspiration and body heat.

  • Antimicrobial, liquid-resistant, and fire-resistant.

  • Free from latex, lead, and mercury.

  • Low Air Loss function lowers humidity under the patient.

  • Air cells made of TPU and nylon, airtight and heat-sealed.

  • Liquid-proof and machine washable.
