Fluid Immersion Simulation® (FIS): how the therapy works

At the heart of DolphinCare is Fluid Immersion Simulation® (FIS) therapy, which supports the body as if floating in fluid. This approach removes harmful pressure points, minimizes tissue distortion, and helps maintain near-normal blood flow to the skin, critical factors in preventing pressure injuries and supporting healing, even in the most fragile patients.

An intelligent control system automatically adapts support as the patient moves or changes position, maintaining an individualized immersion profile at all times. There are no preset cycles, no manual adjustments, and no guesswork just continuous, responsive therapy working in the background.

Full-surface therapy with added stability

DolphinCare delivers Fluid Immersion Simulation therapy across the entire sleep surface, helping limit pressure gradients at the edges of the bed. The optional 42″ UltraWide configuration reduces fall risk by up to 37% compared to standard 35″ beds, while providing additional stability and caregiver access.

Warranty Coverage

Joerns Healthcare warrants the Dolphin® FIS System advanced support surfaces to be sold free from defects in workmanship and materials, under normal and proper use, for a period of:

Two (2) years on the advanced support surfaces

Two (2) years on the electromechanical mattress components, including:

Compressors
Valves
Printed circuit boards
Hoses
Couplers

This warranty is extended to the original purchaser of the equipment.

Exclusions – Improper Use
Damages arising from improper use are not covered by this warranty.
Improper use is defined as, but not limited to, damage caused by:

Burns
Use of improper chemical agents
Needle punctures, cuts, or abrasions
Excessive loads
Staining
Negligent or excessive usage
Improper maintenance, handling, and/or cleaning

Failure to use the product in the manner indicated in the Dolphin FIS System User Manual

Damage caused by use in unsuitable environmental conditions, abuse, or failure to maintain the product in accordance with user and service instructions is not covered.

Unauthorized Modifications

Any modification, repair, or alteration to the Dolphin FIS System that was not authorized in writing by Joerns Healthcare will void this warranty.

Parts

Joerns’ Dolphin FIS System contains various parts that wear from normal use. Joerns Healthcare’s obligation under this warranty is limited, at its option, to supplying replacement parts, servicing, or replacing any product found by Joerns Healthcare to be defective.

When requested by Joerns Healthcare, parts must be returned for inspection at the customer’s expense. Credit will be issued only after inspection.

Service

Most service requests can be handled by the facility Maintenance Department with assistance from the Joerns Healthcare Product Service Department.

Most replacement parts can be shipped via next-day air at the customer’s expense.

If a technician is required, one will be provided by Joerns Healthcare at its discretion. Only the Joerns Healthcare Product Service Department may dispatch authorized technicians.

Joerns® UltraCare® XT Bed – Model UCXT Warranty
Warranty Coverage

Joerns® UltraCare® XT Beds, Model UCXT, are guaranteed for a period of five (5) years from the date of delivery against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service.

This five-year warranty includes:

All mechanical components
All electrical components
Extended Structural Coverage
Steel structural components: Covered for fifteen (15) years from the date of delivery
Welds: Covered for the lifetime¹ of the product
Warranty Exclusions
Damage caused by:

Use in unsuitable environmental conditions
Abuse
Failure to maintain the product in accordance with user and service instructions
is not covered under this warranty.

Any alteration, modification, or repair, unless performed by or authorized in writing by Joerns Healthcare, will void this warranty.

Parts

Joerns beds contain various parts that wear from normal use. These parts, including but not limited to DC batteries and pendants, are not covered under the stated warranty but are covered for ninety (90) days from the date of delivery.

Joerns Healthcare’s obligation under this warranty is limited, at its option, to:

Supplying replacement parts
Servicing the product
Replacing any product found by Joerns Healthcare to be defective

Warranty replacement parts are covered under the terms of this warranty only until the product’s original stated warranty period expires.

When requested by Joerns Healthcare, parts must be returned for inspection at the customer’s expense. Credit will be issued only after inspection.

Service

Most service requests can be handled by the facility Maintenance Department with assistance from the Joerns Healthcare Product Service Department.

Most replacement parts can be shipped via next-day air at the customer’s expense.

Order Processing

Once your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your order.

Orders are fulfilled directly through our authorized manufacturer partners to ensure you receive the newest production inventory.

If an item is temporarily unavailable, we will contact you promptly with updated availability and options. At that time, you may choose to proceed with the revised timeline or cancel for a full refund.

If you confirm that you wish to proceed, the order becomes a confirmed backorder. Once we commit funds with the supplier to reserve inventory specifically for your order, it cannot be cancelled.

You will receive email updates throughout the process, including tracking details once your order ships.

Cancellations within 24 hours may be approved at our discretion if the order has not yet been placed with the supplier or shipped.

Returns

Returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery for eligible products.

Approved returns are subject to:

  • A 25% restocking fee

  • Non-refundable outbound shipping

  • Non-refundable white-glove delivery charges (if applicable)

After 7 days, and up to 14 days from delivery, eligible products may be exchanged only.

After 14 days, all sales are considered final.

Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, and include all components and documentation. Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility.

Pre-Orders & Backorders

Some products may require advance reservation to secure manufacturer inventory.

Pre-orders and confirmed backorders are paid in full at the time of purchase. Once inventory is reserved and funds are committed with the supplier, these orders cannot be cancelled.

Estimated shipping timelines are provided in good faith. Delays may occur due to manufacturing schedules, supplier availability, or freight logistics.

Any exception granted is at our sole discretion and may be subject to a cancellation and restocking fee.

Final Sale Items

Due to hygiene, safety, or manufacturer restrictions, the following items are non-returnable:

  • Beds and mattresses

  • Batteries and chargers

  • All lifts (residential, vehicle, and patient lifts)

  • Lift chairs, geri chairs, and patient room chairs

  • Wheelchair cushions, support surfaces, and slings

  • Mobility accessories

  • Red light therapy devices

Defective or Damaged Items

If an item arrives defective or damaged, the manufacturer will offer a replacement at no cost. Issues must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

A replacement requires the defective item to be returned before a new unit is shipped. A prepaid return label will be provided for approved claims.

If you decline a replacement and request a return instead, the request will be handled under the standard return policy, including a 25% restocking fee and non-refundable shipping costs.

Damage not reported within 24 hours may not be eligible for a claim.

Missed Deliveries, Refused Shipments & Incorrect Addresses

Freight and large-item deliveries are scheduled to the address provided at checkout. Please ensure all delivery details are accurate before submitting your order.

If an order is refused at delivery or returned to the sender, a 25% restocking fee will apply, and all outbound and return shipping costs will be the customer’s responsibility.

If an incorrect or incomplete address is provided and the shipment requires re-delivery, address correction, or is returned to the sender, the customer is responsible for any additional shipping, freight, storage, or re-delivery fees charged by the carrier.

Warranty

All products are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, which varies by brand and product.

We are happy to assist you with documentation, proof of purchase, and guidance throughout the warranty process. Warranty service, repairs, and replacements are handled directly by the manufacturer in accordance with their terms and coverage.

After the return period has passed, any repair or replacement requests will be subject to the manufacturer’s warranty policy and may require return of the defective item for inspection.

Payment Disputes

If you experience any issue with your order, please contact us directly so we can resolve it as quickly as possible.

In the event of a payment dispute, we may provide order records, communication history, and this policy to the payment provider for review.
