The Drive Medical Med-Aire Plus 8" Alternating Pressure Low Air Loss Mattress System is designed for users who spend extended periods in bed and need changing air support without losing a firmer, more defined mattress edge.
Its 8-inch treatment cells alternate pressure beneath the user on selectable 10, 15, 20, or 25-minute cycles, while low air loss helps manage heat and moisture around the support surface.
Along both sides, a 10-inch static-defined perimeter creates a firmer boundary around the treatment area. Beneath the upper cells, a static 4-inch lower layer can retain air and continue providing support for up to 24 hours during a power outage.
For the user, that means changing air support with a more clearly defined edge around the mattress. For the caregiver, eight comfort and weight settings, AutoFirm, Seat/Fowler mode, static mode, alarms, and panel lock provide direct control from one digital system.
The defined perimeter is one of the key features of the Med-Aire Plus 14029DP. Static tubing runs along both sides of the mattress to create a firmer boundary around the treatment surface.
Inside that perimeter, 8-inch air cells provide the alternating-pressure surface. The care team can choose 10, 15, 20, or 25-minute cycles or select static mode when a consistent setting is required.
Below the treatment cells is a static 4-inch air-cell layer. If power is interrupted, this lower layer can retain air and continue providing support for up to 24 hours.
The low air loss system supplies airflow through the mattress to help manage heat and moisture around the support surface. The removable four-way stretch cover is fluid resistant, low shear, and vapor permeable.
The digital control unit includes eight comfort and weight settings, alternating and static modes, AutoFirm, Seat/Fowler mode, panel lock, and audible and visual alarms for low pressure, system failure, and power failure.

The control unit repeatedly inflates and deflates groups of air cells to change where the body is supported. The care team can select 10, 15, 20, or 25-minute cycles.
Low air loss supplies airflow through the mattress system to help manage heat and moisture around the support surface. The vapor-permeable cover works with the airflow system.
Static perimeter tubing creates a firmer boundary along both sides of the mattress and provides a more defined edge around the treatment surface.
The static lower air-cell layer can retain air and provide support for up to 24 hours during a power outage.
AutoFirm raises the mattress to maximum pressure for approximately 30 minutes. Seat/Fowler mode increases pressure when the user is placed in a seated position.
The system is contraindicated for cervical or skeletal traction and unstable spinal cord injuries. A qualified healthcare professional should determine whether this powered support surface is appropriate for the individual user.
