OB-1650 StandardAir: Alternating Pressure Ulcer Prevention Mattress with Low Air Loss
The ObboMed OB-1650 StandardAir™ Mattress helps prevent bedsores and skin breakdown in patients who spend extended periods in bed. Its alternating air pockets inflate and deflate in cycles to redistribute body weight, reducing continuous pressure on the back, hips, and heels while improving blood flow to these areas.
The built-in low air loss system directs a gentle stream of air across the mattress surface to control heat and moisture, helping keep the skin dry and lowering the risk of irritation and infection. Constructed with reinforced medical-grade materials, the mattress maintains consistent pressure support for patients weighing up to 450 lbs, ensuring stable positioning and effective pressure relief in both hospital and home environments.
Safety and Positioning Support
Soft inflatable guardrails cushion against falls, while the mattress can sink up to 4 inches (paired with 4-inch guardrails for an 8-inch barrier) to keep patients centered during rotation. The mattress supports 15° self-lateral rotation and 25° left/right/auto rotation, with up to 40° of movement when combined. This helps improve comfort, support lung function, and assist with phlegm clearance.
In a sitting posture, the Fowler Seating Support increases firmness under the seat and torso (by about 30%) to prevent the patient from sinking downward.
Note: Bed Frame, Bedpan, Shampoo are Not Included

OB-1650 StandardAir Mattress Features
💡 Note: The videos shown may display the automatic (one-touch) “Easy Go” system found on higher models (OB-2650 / OB-3650).
The OB-1650 provides manual ‘Easy Go’ Bedpan and Shampoo functions through a Quick-Release Valve system. The caregiver manually deflates and reinflates the mattress section to create space for a bedpan or shampoo basin.
Patented “Easy Go” Bedpan Function (Manual)
The caregiver uses the quick-release valve to deflate four air cells under the hips in about 20 seconds, creating a recessed space for a bedpan without moving the patient. After use, closing the valve reinflates the mattress. (Bedpan not included.)
Patented “Easy Go” Shampoo Function (Manual)
Using the quick-release valve at the head section, the caregiver can deflate part of the mattress in about 20 seconds for a shampoo basin. Closing the valve restores the mattress to normal. (Shampoo basin not included.)
Patented Inflatable Air-Filled Guardrails
The 4-inch inflatable guardrails use quick-release valves for fast inflation and deflation. They provide soft, cushioned protection against falls and bruises, offering a safer alternative to metal side rails while still allowing easy caregiver access.
Multiple Rotation Angles
The mattress supports 15° self-lateral rotation and 25° left/right/auto rotation, with up to 40° of movement when combined., these functions allow up to 40° of movement, which helps improve comfort, support lung function, and assist with phlegm clearance.
15° Self-Lateral Rotation & Sinking Feature
Special air cells gently inflate and deflate to create a 15° wave-like self-rotation, which helps redistribute pressure and improve circulation. Sinking Feature with Centralization: The sinking feature lowers the mattress by up to 4 inches, working with the 4-inch guardrails to form an 8-inch deep soft barrier that keeps patients safely centered during rotation.
Fowler & Seating Function
When the head of the bed is raised, the Fowler Seating Support boosts firmness under the seat and torso areas by about 30%. This prevents “bottoming out,” helps maintain posture, and reduces the risk of pressure injuries while seated upright.
Comfort-Focused True Low Air Loss (LAL) Therapy
The built-in fan delivers 15 LPM airflow beneath the cover. This reduces heat and moisture, keeping the skin cool and dry to lower the risk of pressure ulcers (Stage 1–4).

Frequently Ask Question
What is the OB-1650 StandardAir™ Mattress designed for?
The OB-1650 is a medical air mattress designed to prevent and treat pressure ulcers (Stages 1–4). It provides alternating pressure, low air loss therapy, rotation features, and seating support to enhance comfort and safety for patients who remain in bed for long periods.
What makes the OB-1650 different from the OB-1620?
Unlike the OB-1620, the OB-1650 includes manual “Easy-Go” Bedpan and Shampoo functions as well as inflatable guardrails for added safety. These features make daily care and hygiene easier while minimizing the risk of falls and injury.
How does the “Easy-Go” Bedpan function work?
The caregiver uses the manual Quick-Release Valve to deflate four air cells under the hips within about 20 seconds, creating a recessed space for a bedpan. After use, closing the valve reinflates the mattress. (Bedpan not included.)
How does the “Easy-Go” Shampoo function help caregivers?
By deflating a section of the mattress near the head with the Quick-Release Valve, space is created for a shampoo basin. This allows caregivers to wash a patient’s hair without lifting or moving them. (Shampoo basin not included.)
Are the inflatable guardrails safe and comfortable?
Yes. The 4-inch inflatable air-filled guardrails provide cushioned protection against falls and bruises, making them a safer alternative to metal side rails. Combined with the sinking feature, they help keep patients securely centered in the bed.
What rotation and positioning options does the OB-1650 provide?
The mattress supports 15° self-lateral rotation, 25° programmed side-to-side rotation, and up to 40° movement when combined. These features reduce pressure, improve circulation, support lung function, and aid phlegm clearance.
How does the Low Air Loss (LAL) system work?
The built-in fan delivers 15 liters of airflow per minute under the cover, which helps reduce heat, humidity, and moisture buildup. This creates a cooler, drier environment that lowers the risk of skin breakdown.
What are the OB-1650 mattress dimensions and weight capacity?
