The SPAN Advantage Weigh Scale Low Hospital Bed is an adjustable hospital bed designed to bring together advanced positioning, low-bed safety, integrated weighing, and width adjustment in one system. For buyers comparing a medical-grade low bed, a hospital bed with built-in scale, or a long-term care resident bed, this model is designed to reduce compromise between positioning, safety, and day-to-day usability.
The Advantage ReadyWide Weigh Scale Low Bed by Span America is designed for situations where the bed is used for far more than rest alone. Position changes, seated support, lower transfer height, and regular weight monitoring can all become part of the daily routine, and this bed is built to handle those demands in one platform.
Its integrated weigh scale allows weight to be checked while the user remains in bed. The ReadyWide® system expands the sleep surface up to 42", while Trendelenburg, Reverse Trendelenburg, and Comfort Chair positioning make it easier to set the home hospital bed up for changing needs throughout the day.
SmartStop® is designed to improve safety during lowering by automatically pausing the bed at 12.5" from the floor. This gives time to check under-bed clearance before lowering continues, which is especially useful where accessories, personal items, or other equipment may be near the base of the bed.
For buyers comparing low hospital beds and low-height care beds, this is one of the key features that helps separate this model from more basic alternatives.

This support bar locks in three positions, including a right-angle position that helps with bed entry and exit.
Under-bed lighting and visual warnings improve visibility, particularly in low-light conditions.
Includes model-dependent control options such as standard foot-end controls or touchscreen control configuration.
All listed models include ReadyWide® expansion, integrated weighing, mobility, and floor lock functionality. The main differences are capacity level and control type.
| Model | SKU | Main Difference | Typical Fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Span Advantage ReadyWide Weigh Scale | MC7WSML | Standard Foot End Controls | Suitable where the standard 500 lbs capacity version is appropriate |
| Span Advantage ReadyWide Weigh Scale with Touch Screen | MC7WSTML | Premium / touchscreen controls | Best for buyers wanting upgraded control access |
| Span Advantage ReadyWide Plus Weigh Scale Bed | MC7WSPMLB | PLUS model with 650lbs capacity frame + standard foot end controls | Best where a more robust frame or higher load capacity is needed |
The push-button ReadyWide® system expands the sleep surface from 36" to 39" to 42", giving the bed a more adaptable fit without changing models.
Trendelenburg, Reverse Trendelenburg, and Comfort Chair functions allow the bed to support a wider range of positioning requirements than a more basic profiling bed.
The built-in scale allows weight to be monitored directly in bed, removing the need for separate weighing equipment.
With a floor-to-mattress support height starting from 8", and product messaging centred around an ultra-low design, the bed is built for safer low-height access and transfer support.
Mobility casters with floor locks help the bed move where needed, then stay secure once positioned.
Welded steel tube and slat construction, trapezoidal slat profile, antimicrobial coating, and vertical lift design all support long-term daily use.

This model includes the core bed system required for everyday use. Accessories such as rails and support aids are available separately so the setup can be matched to individual needs.
Side rails, assist rails, trapeze bars, and other accessories are optional and can be added based on your setup.
The ReadyWide® system allows the sleep surface to expand from 36" to 42", helping the bed adapt more easily to different user requirements.
Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg allow the entire bed to tilt forwards or backwards in one movement using the bed controls.
SmartStop® pauses the bed at a low position so under-bed clearance can be checked before lowering continues.
The main differences are the frame capacity level and whether the bed is supplied with standard controls or a touch screen control configuration.
